Leadership: still the elusive friend that refuses management captivity.

Daily Thoughts are back in full on the 5th of January together with the pre-launch of my new book ‘However; work could be remarkable’. In the meantime, still sharing some thoughts in whispering mode.

From the collection on Leadership, these three Daily Thoughts have generated discussions and dialog

It takes only one question to know about your model of leadership (and there is always an alternative question, just in case)
On the question of Legacy. Don’t define leadership for me. Tell me what legacy you want to leave behind, and I’ll know. What am I leaving behind as leader? What am I building? What will be left when I am not here? What will my legacy look like?

‘It’s about you, and between you (not us at the top, not the leadership team)’
In one of the multiple accounts of the 2008 Obama campaign, David Plouffe, then campaign manager, wrote in his book ‘The Audacity to Win’ about the importance of the grassroots movement. See more..

Leadership’s Splendid Expeditions
On the quote by Sir Richard Livingstone: “The history of mankind might be described by a cynic as a series of splendid  expeditions towards the wrong goal or towards no goal at all, led by men who have all the gifts of leadership except a sense of direction, and every endowment  for achieving their ends except a knowledge of ends worth achieving”

Leadership continues to be one of my number one worries. In recent years, I have been largely associated with Viral ChangeÔ , which my team has pioneered as a way to orchestrate large scale behavioural and cultural change. Leadership is still, perhaps my biggest worry, well above ‘change’.  More to come in 2015.

Most likely you are in a Christmas break of some sort. Hope you take time and personal space. Enjoy it.
