Do I really, really, really need to attend that meting? Do I really, really, really need to send one from my team?
Strictly speaking, I don’t have to. But I always do because
It’s a ‘just in case policy’ in case they discuss something that affect us (translation: I don’t trust them)
Everybody needs to be represented (no it doesn’t)
It is the composition of the team (really? who says?)
Challenge: how do we go from 30 people making a decision in 30 days, to 3 people making the same decision in 3 days?
Some things have to go:
Number of people
Over-inclusiveness pathology
Defensive and protective stuff
Some things need to come in:
Trust
Higher risk (maybe)
Less busy-ness
Consider your environment before you pollute it again = consider your culture before you polluted again with over inclusiveness, waste of time, recycling of interventions and greater chance of groupthink.
The Lean diet: One less meeting a week, one less presence, one less calendar block.
This hypo-caloric, cultural diet will boost your stamina. And if everybody went on this diet, you’ll have something really precious: a culture of trust.
An these bonuses:
A culture of speed and agility
Time to think
Space to do
