My mind is not for change. Look how strong I am.
In the Brexit context, the discussion has often been about the possibilities, merits, indeed even ethics, of ‘changing your mind’. The split is, oh well, the split. Predictably the remainers want it, and the leavers don’t. I am leaving Brexit talking here at a recommendation from my psychiatrist.
There is something in the western warrior, which we see very often in leaders of organizations, that penalizes changing own’s mind because it is seen as a sign of poor judgment and weak will power. Perhaps there are weak thinkers and weak judgers (?) who will do that. But, for me, to be able to ‘change your mind’ is an essential trait of good leadership.
The economist J.K. Galbraith said, “Faced with a choice between changing one’s mind and proving there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy with the proof.”
And we all get incredibly busy. It’s defense, a show of strength.
But it does not last. I am suspicious of people who never changing their minds.
My mind is not for change. Look how strong I am.
Next guy please
