I often use lines from some of Obama’s speeches, to ask leaders about their sense of destiny, small d or big D.
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
‘We are the ones we’ve been waiting for’ means, no hiding, no postponing, no rehearsals.
It means there are things only you can do and if you don’t, nobody else will.
It means stop thinking of managing the inevitable and focus your leadership on what will not happen unless you take that lead.
It means the Jewish tradition of the ‘if not now, when?’
It means sense of urgency
It means full accountability
‘We are the ones we’ve been waiting for (…) we are the change that we seek’ is a full PhD in leading change in one line.
